i lived here for a winter 20 years ago, so it was interesting to see the town again. i can hardly recogise anything. where i lived is no longer there, and the only pub back then(which was pretty rough with fights out the front regularly) is now a 4 star resort. i took the 2 hour sunrise flight over lake argyle and the bungles this morning, spectacular, but nearly cost me as much as my return tickets to darwin, but worthwhile all the same. tomorrow i am starting the 'back to darwin' trek and hopefully i have enough time up my sleeve to do a quick slip into kakadu. on the return i will overnight at victoria river roadhouse to do the chopper flight over gregory national park. all going well so far. for those interested the most i have paid for petrol is $1.55 per litre
